Nhood Poland has started revitalizing the area for a new multifunctional investment in Piaseczno

25. 10. 2021

In September, Nhood Poland started the process of soil remediation at the former trolleybus and bus depot in Piaseczno. According to the remediation decision received by the company, the process covered approximately 3,160 cubic meters of contaminated ground. The works are related to the new multifunctional investment planned by Nhood. The modern mixed-use project will combine residential, office, entertainment, gastronomic and commercial functions.

The area of the old trolleybus and bus depot in Piaseczno, which operated intermittently since the 1980s until 2002, will undergo significant changes. Previously, the area served as a service point for transport, and then for a long time it was undeveloped and partly contaminated with mineral oil due to transport activities. Within a few years, a modern, multifunctional investment will be built in this place, surrounded by greenery and recreational areas.

One of the first stages of preparation for the construction of the facility is proper site preparation, which involves the safe removal of pollutants and the improvement of soil quality in order to restore biodiversity.

Remediation of the area of the fuel warehouse has started

The activities of Nhood Poland are based on the remediation decision issued in September 2021 by the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Warsaw. The soil of the former depot is contaminated as the area was previously used for fuel storage.

Nhood, which is developing the future investment on this plot, has started cooperating with an experienced and professional entity to get rid of harmful substances in the ground. For this purpose, in September, soil remediation was started with the use of safe strains of bacteria. The amount of soil that has been cleaned, approx. 3,160 cubic meters, is the equivalent of approx. 158 fully loaded trucks.

 – Soil remediation is a two-stage process in which a specialized biopreparation was used. Our team used proven and specially bred for this purpose strains of bacteria. They are almost like an antibiotic for the soil. The task of these microorganisms is to consume the carbon contained in the pollutant and thus break down the pollutant into an environmentally neutral form. This process will take a year, says Marcin Chołodziński, Project Manager at Nhood Poland.

During the works, the plot area was fenced off and secured. A total of 11,000 litres of a preparation containing specialized strains of soil bacteria positively influencing biological processes were used to clean the ground. Each of them was bred in Poland under the supervision of Polish universities. The preparation used is ISO certified and certified by the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene (NIZP-PZH).

The remediation process in Piaseczno is safe for people, animals and vegetation, and it has a neutral effect on the roots of trees growing in the area.

A step closer to the new mixed-use investment

The new urban quarter in Piaseczno surrounded by Puławska, Energetyczna, Mleczarska and Sękocińska Street will be a friendly space for residents to live, work, play, spend their free time and shop. The investment will have a wide range of functions, saving residents the trouble of having to commute to Warsaw. The total area of the investment is 11 hectares, and the total usable area of the complex will amount to 71,000 m2. Already at the stage of preparing the technical designs, Nhood Poland will apply for the international BREEAM New Construction certificate for this facility.

In the first stage of the investment, facilities with entertainment, catering and commercial functions will be built. The urban layout and architectural concept have already received the preliminary approval of the Architecture Department of the Piaseczno Commune Office.

Depending on the pace of progress in the planning process and preparatory works, the planned date of commencing the construction of the first stage of the investment is 2025/2026.
